The Magic of Humour

December8

:)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)

Towards 2010, I was thinking of cutting my homour a little, thinking it’s been on the excess lately (okay longer than lately :) ), but thanks to this article by Tope Ogunfayo, I’m changing my mind!

I don’t really see myself in the ‘realms’ of Stand-up Comedy (I think that will be “not abiding in my calling” :) ), but I’ve grown up to be naturally funny in my interactions with different classes and kinds of people. As opposed to what the average person would perceive of me as the ‘too serious’ straight face (or frown face) type, the people that have been or worked close enough with me would not hesitate to warn you of my Humour (excessive at times I think ;) not beyond moral boundaries anyway).

Okay let’s cut the boring paragraph above…humour is SEASONING for truth. And that’s how I intend to channel my humour more…okay now you can read the article I talked of

The 6 Myths Of Creativity

December8

‘Stumbled’ on this really good article on a long term study on Creativity. Thought it would be good to share it…at least before I write next.

Here. It’s from Fast Company.

Should post some creatives av worked on lately too before I write or do one or two book reviews…

I’m looking forward (trusting God and working towards) a lot in 2010. I have the ‘feeling’ it’s going to be a blast!

Got to go!

Be Wise on “Fools Day”!

April1
Clowns

Due to my witty (troublesome-in-a-nice-and-intelligent-way :) ) nature, some of my office peeps will likely I’ve expected me to pull off something today being “Fools Day”. I remember earlier in life, there would have been pockets of not-so-funny jokes here and there. I remember one in the Secondary School I attended (FGC, Odogbolu Nigeria) where the Senior Boarding House Master was told somewhere was burning only to discover after panicking that it was “April Fool”!

So shortly before today, I had to get a hold of myself. I had to know exactly where to balance humour and values. Was it okay to tell lies and have fun in spite of our “no lies” values? I’m naturally humorous especially in conversations, so I’m not particularly the ‘Sanctimonious Kill-Joy’ type (this may not be common knowledge for those not relatively close to me). But I also like to rethink. Should I just accept what’s trendy because the world says it’s cool and everyone is flowing with it?

Of course the Bible is not silent on issues like this. Yeah I know, “Fools Day” is not in the bible. And the bible actually encourages us to be free. Free from the traditions and cultures and other shackles (like circumcision) that try to box us and hold us down. But our freedom is not an excuse for sin.

So while I’m not subscribing to a humdrum life allowing for no humour, I believe there are boundaries (more of values and principles than Dos and Don’ts) that we should always watch out for in our dealings. We need to know how far it’s okay to go…and with who too. We need to continuously caution ourselves lest our good intentions to be nice or funny or …. witty don’t become instruments in the hands of the devil to glorify himself. :)
So we should rather seek for means to glorify God and to love and serve others with our wits, humour and whatever ‘talent’ :) we possess.
Gal 5:13  For, brothers, you were called to liberty. Only do not use the liberty for an opening to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

There are many things that if you wait till conditions are ideal, you’ll never get them done. Not that I’m not a fan of proper preparations or counting costs before starting, but I just believe there are minimum requirements that once they are met, you can start off certain things. Be it an idea, a business, a project, a relationship, a… [ok that should do :) ], you may just have to start when things are not Ideal.

So, while I don’t have all thoughts together to start ‘blogging properly’, I’ll do this first post (hoping to do at least one every three days). This post is Basically to lay foundations for the next weeks, months and years (of blogging) to come.

Acknowledgements: God is the foundation of everything that will last - everything that will stand the test of time - ‘cos God spans eternity past and future. So I dedicate this blog to God. I hope that God will find in me a vessel for expression on these pages. I hope that the blog will be used for the glory of God, for the benefit of man (yes, includes me!)

I acknowledge several individuals (I guess I’ll avoid mentioning specific names for now but some of them will be on my Blogroll and within the pages soon). These are superiors, contemporaries and more (online and offline) that have shaped me in terms of personality, ideals and development. They range from geeks to business people to pastors to….people (lol).

What will I blog about?

While I’m into IT (Creatives, Web design & development, flash presentations + anything multimedia that I can and will dabble into :) ), I generally do not consider myself a geek. I can be in front of the PC 24hrs stretch but somehow, I still don’t have the ‘geeky’ feeling :) . So for the records I’m not a geek, but I have a couple of friends that are geeks men!

So back to the question; I’ll be blogging about many other things asides IT. Things ranging from faith, personal development, impact, …., em of course humour :), yeah IT will make its entries too (though) I’m thinking of another IT blog… watch out…

I’ll do several book reviews, interviews, and many more things that are not revealed at the moment. This should help increase my personal development very well.

Also this theme should be around for about 2-3 months after which I’ll have a wider widget enabled theme…

I look forward to everyone that will visit tundeopaleye.com and everyone I’ll meet through this blog. I look forward to comments when they come and traffic too :). I hope to look back in a year and be glad because of the difference tundeopaleye.com will make in my life and the life of many of my friends and people that will eventually be my friends (that should include my enemies :) )
